Member Jim Quanci took home the big prize, winning the Singlehanded Sailing Society's Transpac, a 2200 mile race from San Francisco to Kauai. Jim, aboard Green Buffalo, capitalized on years of Pacific Cup experience to helm his Cal 40, Green Buffalo, to victory in a bit over 13 days. And of course the cover of Latitude 38.
Also in that race, a new record was set by Alex Mehran, who clearly has mastered the handling of the open 50 Truth (Ex-Pegasus), making the passage in a speedy eight and a half days.
In the Pacific Cup, California Condor, the Antrim-designed speedster with member Jim Antrim aboard had a great passage, though correcting out to mid-fleet. In the more "cruisey" Division A, the Pacific Seacraft 44 VALIS took first in division with new member Michael Moradzadeh as navigator.
After a surfeit of maitais, everybody is no doubt happy to be home! You know. To go sailing.
